Bloggiesta Begins with a Question for My Readers

One of the first tasks I'd like to do for Bloggiesta is to figure out a new way to do reviews, add to them, change them up a little, do something different. I feel they are getting very boring. Yet at the same time I want to keep them simple. The last thing I want to do is make reviews stressful. They should be fun!

So, I'd like to ask you, my readers, what you like to see in a book review, so here goes my first attempt at using a Google Form thing. So, please everyone make me happy and participate! And if there's something I've left off the list, please comment with more suggestions.

  1. When I review gets too detailed, I feel like I can't discover the book on my own. Great survey!

  2. For what it's worth, I like your reviews!

  3. I LOVE this poll idea for the Bloggiesta weekend. Do you mind if I copy it and give you creative credit?

  4. I've done my duty Ma'm! But I would like to add that I just like a picture; I need not be a picture of the cover. Also, short or long reader reaction is both fine, but I think it's THE most element of a blog review. I can find a summary of the book anywhere on the web ;)

    Good luck with Bloggiesta!

  5. I'd like to see what everyone else prefers; are you going to share the final consensus?

  6. I can't stand it when there is no book cover when I read reviews. I'd be curious what the answers are as well.

  7. Yes, I will share the results at the end of Bloggiesta. Cool. I'm excited everyone seems interested! Oh and Molly, yes... go ahead, I'd be flattered!

  8. I typically don't watch book trailers.

  9. I'm another one who likes a picture of the cover. Don't really care for trailers as they take so long to load. Looking forward to seeing the results!

  10. What a fabulous idea! I look forward to hearing what the responses are and what you decide to do with your reviews. Mine are feeling a bit stale too :)

  11. For the record, I was the person who clicked short AND long personal reaction, because either one is fine by me -- I just want to read some personal reaction in order to connect to the blogger writing the review.

Also, I'm shameful of it, but I totally judge a book by its cover. I know, I know. But I need to see that cover!

  12. I love a quote from the book, but it doesn't need to be the first line or your favorite. Just something that shows me the flavor of the book and its writing.

Can't wit to see the results!

  13. That was a great poll! I said 'reason for reading' because motivation is a huge factor for my own reading. If you picked it up b/c you felt a certain way or wanted to feel a certain way, that helps me understand your thoughts on it! When I worked at B&N in NYC, and someone asked for a recommendation, I always asked them how they wanted to feel after reading it. I think I'm going to write a blog post on this, further exploring it!

    Thanks for the inspiration!
