Top Ten Tuesday: Forbidden Love!

I couldn't decide on a topic and now the day is nearly over and I've still not written a post! I hate it when that happens.

But I'll give it a shot with this one.

Ten of my favorite books if you enjoy books with forbidden love:

1. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
2. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
3. The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough
4. Scribbler of Dreams by Mary Pearson
5. The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima
6. The Queen of Atolia by Megan Whalen Turner
7. The Far Pavilions by M.M. Kaye
8. Tristan and Isolde by lots of people
9. Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
10. Sunshine by Robin McKinley

And here, forbidden love means falling for the enemy, or a person in a completely different "tribe" than you, or someone you should just totally stay away from!

Yeah, so I know there's some really great ones missing from this list, but I couldn't go on forever now, could I? But I would love to know, what's your favorite forbidden love story? Which one must I totally read NOW?

See what topics others came up with over at The Broke and the Bookish!

  1. Ah, I'm not a big fan of forbidden love, but Daughter of Smoke and Bone, Wuthering Heights, Tristan and Isolde, and Anna karenina are all on my TBR. :) Especially the last two. Oh! I like Rites of Passage by Joy N. Hensley, that one has a sort of forbidden love with the military aspect.

  2. I loved The Daughter of Smoke and Bone, but another favourite is the Saga series - very much about forbidden love!

  3. Can't believe that I haven't read any of the books on your list! I'm not sure that I've read any books featuring forbidden love, as nothing is coming to mind. Does Romeo & Juliet read for my high school English class count?

    1. Terri: Yes, Romeo and Juliet counts, but I left them off because they are too obvious! You should try one these books, really!

  4. Never even heard of Scribbler of Dreams! I've got to check it out. Pride and Prejudice totally counts - one of my favorites :)

  5. Aww forbidden love. I'm not sure what counts but I've always loved the idea. Especially when it's a wealthy girl and a nobody guy or visa/versa.

  7. I love forbidden love. It's one of my favorite things in books, especially when there is NO LOVE TRIANGLE. ;) I think that's why I loved The Winner's Curse so much.
