Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Want to be Movies

This week's list prompt over at The Broke and the Bookish is to list books we'd like to see made into a  movie.

So here's the thing.... every book I love has pretty much been made into a movie, or is in the process of being made. So, this list is harder than it looks! But let's see what I can come up with:

1. Room by Emma Donoghue... this would make a fascinating movie I think.
2. A Madness of Angels by kate Griffin... now that would be intense.
3. Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zaffon... awesome.
4. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins... for some nice romance.
5. The Wheel of Time books by Robert Jordan! Yeah, that would be a project!
6. Major Pettigrew's Last Stand by Helen Simonson... my question is, who would be a good Major Pettigrew?
7. Coop by Michael Perry... that would be a movie that would have it all!
8. The Queen's Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner... and just who would be Gen? Let's ponder...
9. Pieces of Sky by Kaki Warner.. for a fun western romance. We need some cowboys, right?
10. The Maximum Ride series by James Patterson... I thought this one was happening, but then... nothing. Do it people!

I was tempted to say The Book Thief, but I'm scared for what a movie might do to it. What do you all think, you other Book Thief fans?

What books do YOU think should be made into a movie?

  1. Yes, Room would make a good movie, that's for sure. I considered the Thief series, but I am worried it would ruin the book experience.

For me, it would have to be the Fables comic book series. I had heard it was to be a television series, but nothing seems to have come of it...

  2. as much as I love the Book Thief - I'm sure a movie would never have the same impact for me.

what about The Thief of Always by Clive Barker... I've always wanted to see that as a movie :)

  3. After today I think the Shadow of the Wind should definitely be made. I'd be the first in line!

I've always wanted to read teh Wheel of Time books... Not sure why I haven't yet.

  4. I'd be terrified of how they would get The Book Thief wrong. Plus, once there's a movie lots of people won't even read the book. I think Major Pettigrew would be great though!

  5. Anna and the French Kiss made my list too. I think it would be so fun to see that world come alive.

  6. The Book Thief could be a really good movie, if the right person does it. But, that's a big IF. Lately I haven't been impressed with movies.

I saw the cast list for the Hunger Games of Katniss, Peeta, and Gale. I like Katniss, but not the guys. Have you seen it?

  7. I would love to see Room made into a movie as well.

  8. That IS a tough one. I usually end up hating movies that are based on books. Even in the idea is cool they always ruin them. Dang Hollywood. I keep slapping m money down, though.

I think The Book Thief would be good but only if it was VERY respectfully done.

  9. Room was on my list. too. I'm hestitant about The Book Thief as well.

I keep hearing good things about Coop. I should add that to my never-ending to-read list.

  10. I enjoyed Room but I am not sure if I want to see the movie. It is such a grim topic... :( For some reason, I do not want to put a face to poor five-year old Jack.

I think The Book Thief will be one of those movie (whenever they make it) where I do not want to compare the two. The book is great and I don't think any movie or director can match that.
