Review: Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr

Book: Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr

Genre: YA Fantasy

Rating: A

For: Fun

This book would definitely come under the "book blogger buzz" category for me, because I don't think I would have ever known about it otherwise. So, I put it on hold way back when, and finally got it this past week. So, I dropped everything else, sat down, and read it in an evening, and the afternoon of the next day.

In this book we don't have vampires, or zombies, or werewolves, but what we do have is fairies. Some pretty nasty ones too. The Winter Queen has taken control, and her son, the Summer King, is hoping to fix that situation. Well, at least he has been trying for centuries. But the task is not easy because he must find a mortal girl to turn into the Summer Queen, and if she agrees to the request, she may be dooming herself forever.

So along comes Ash, who can actually see the fairies who live, and cause havoc in and among the regular people. When two unusual fairies begin to follow her, she gets a little, no, a lot creeped out. Then, she must get to the bottom of the situation, and once she does, wow, does she ever have some decisions to make!

Another great page-turning, emotionally charged, you-go-girl, teenage supernatural drama. So if you're into that kind of thing and you aren't sick of it yet (which category I guess I still fall in,) then you'll totally enjoy this book, and all it's sequels! Oh, and by the way, I hear it's going to be a movie too.

  2. I enjoyed it to a point, but not as much as you. Beautiful world she created and the faerie mythology was great, though. Here's my review.

  3. This does sound like fun - I haven't read a book recently about faeries, so it seems kind of fresh. Thanks for the review!

  4. I liked this one -- not the other two so much (couldn't finish the third, alas) -- because it is a great world she's created. And this one is a gripping story.

  7. I"ve had this one on my shelves for a while. I love all the different paranormal worlds and the way authors can make them so unique, so I suspect I'll enjoy it. Just gotta get around to reading it.
