Ten Books I WILL Read in 2011

In my surfing book blogs this evening, I came across the popular Top Ten Tuesday posts everyone links up to over at The Broke and the Bookish. And I had to join in. This week's top ten subject:

What ten books do you resolve to read for sure in 2011?

So let's see, what would I list?

1. Bridge of Clay by Markus Zusak.... because, must I even say? Hello. So. Excited.
2. Major Pettigrew's Last Stand by Helen Simonson, because everyone said this was crazy awesome.
3. Monsters of Men by Patrick Ness, because I must know how this story ends or go crazy.
4. Sapphique by Catherine Fisher, because the first one hooked me big time.
5. The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson, because I've really got to finish this series.
6. The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, because it's been on my nightstand for months now and deserves a read!
7. A Madness of Angels by Kate Griffen, because Jenny gave it to me and says it's good so I WILL read it!
8. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare, because tons of you have said I should give this one a second chance.
9. The Fires of Heaven by Robert Jordan, because I WILL keep reading this series and that's the first one I need to finish.
10. And there needs to be a classic on the for sure list, but I can't think of which one.... any suggestions? I will finish The Way We Live Now... but I don't want to count that one. Hmmmm... I'll have to ponder.

What's on your for sure to read list?

  1. I'm going to try City of Bones I think too. Enjoy Monsters of Men. I was definitely satisfied with how it all turned out!

  2. Yes! City of Bones was so good! I posted my 10 picks as well at Debbie's World of Books

  4. Yay! I'm so glad you jumped in this week! It's really such a fun meme. I do it from time to time. It's sometimes a little difficult, but I really like all the fun questions.

SO happy you put City of Bones on there! Wahoo! Loved that series so much and cannot wait for the next in the series to come out. SO good!

  5. I'm so glad you're going to read The Glass Castle. I've been trying to get my mom to read it for several years now.

  6. Visiting your blog and seeing all the lists and reviews sure helps me know what to choose to read. Thanks. I've been lurking for sometime and really enjoy it here.

  7. Every time The Glass Castle in Target I think about buying it. I can't wait to read your review.

  8. Sorry, posting twice... for a classic--on my list is Pride and Prejudice. I have never read it!

  9. Tricia: Oh good on City of Bones. We'll compare notes!

  10. Great top 10 list! I am reading 1 classic for sure this year as well - mine is going to be Jane Eyre. I've never read it!

  11. Fantastic list. I have not thought about this one. I am still working on wrapping up 2010.

Have you read North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell. If not, give it a go. I just posted about it...I loved the book.

Let me know when you are done with Fires. ;)

I have Mistborn, and need to read it...well, I read the first few chapters several months back and had to set it aside.

  12. I'm trying to read War and Peace this year. Eek! It's 1440 pages. My fingers are crossed!

    Here's my list: www.readerbuzz.blogspot.com

  13. I don't think I can pick just ten that I want to read. I can attest that City of Bones is worth trying again. The second and third books are wonderful!

Good luck with reading all of these!

  14. Sapphique is definitely on my list and I may try to a re-read of City of Bones before moving onto the others. I enjoyed it enough the first time around!
