Bloggiesta and BBAW

Two awesome bloggish events are coming up. One this next weekend, and one in September (but sign ups are happening now.)

First, Bloggiesta is will be happening again this weekend June 11-13. Click this post over at Maw Books for all the details. This is the perfect time to do some blog work and housekeeping. I participated for my first time last January and had a blast. I hope to get some stuff done this weekend, but we'll have to see what real life throws my way too.

Anyway, some of the things I hope to accomplish are:

  • clean up the Reader: mark some posts as read, get rid of dead blogs, organize folders
  • update master Review by Title list and start working on Review by Author list
  • clean up tags and labels
  • evaluate the sidebar and maybe add stuff and/or delete stuff
  • update the blog roll
  • email authors for Authors Pick Five
  • write some Suey's Top Tens lists
  • ask for more Bookword ideas, update the Bookword list
  • do that thing where I get rid of the orange B and add my own picture, what's that called again?
  • write a review policy, finally
  • sign up for BBAW

Next, sign ups are happening now for the hugely popular event known as BBAW (Book Bloggers Appreciation Week) coming up in September. Seriously, you don't want to miss this one. So click on over to their main site to find the sign up form and get all the information on what to expect. Figure out what niche you are in and add your blog to the list to be considered for an award! And while you're at it, maybe you can tell me what niche you think I'm in. Sheesh, you'd think that question wouldn't be so hard! Anyway, once I figure that out, I'll be back to post a list of favorite posts which is part of the process this year.

Never a dull moment around the book blogosphere. Keeps us all on our toes that's for sure!

  1. Yes! Finding your own niche is so hard! I wavered back and forth before deciding on one...

  2. You know, I'm pretty certain that whatever niche I chose I wouldn't really have a chance of winning I'm kind thinking I won't register to be nominated. Is that lameness or what?

  3. Melissa: YES! LAME! I don't have any chance either, but it will be fun to try. It's sort of a strange set up this year where you are "forced" to toot your own horn and it feels weird. But maybe it will be good for us... go for it I say!

Amanda: I saw your post and I think you picked a good niche. And here's betting you'll win it! :)

  4. Yay! I'll be Bloggiesta'ing right along with you! I got some ideas from your list, too.

  5. Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting on my Bloggiesta Post. You have some great goals as well. The little thing you are talking about instead of the "B" is a good idea! I don't know what it's called either, but that might be something I work on in the future! I also like the way you have your reviews listed. I may have to do something like that! I just have mine organized by year at the moment. I think I might like your way better!

I also took a listen to your Michael Jackson song. I haven't heard it before. Was it one of his new ones before he died? Thanks for listening to the Rodrigo y Gabriela song on my post! I love them.

Oh, last thing...I became a follower of yours on Twitter. I am @bowlieb at the moment, but may change my name to my blog name this weekend.

  6. Good luck :) I hope you enjoy your weekend

  7. Suey, you're right. I should just go for it. Have you thought of a niche for yourself yet? I'm thinking I'll put MG, since I do lots of those and YA is so overcrowded.

  8. Carin, Thanks for dropping by. The Michael Jackson song is "new to me" too so I'm not sure when he made it.

Mystee, good luck to you too!

Melissa, I'm doing the Eclectic niche, along with pretty much everyone else I'm guessing. MG would be great for you, but I'm not sure there is one for that? Hopefully though! Then go for it!

  9. Great goals you have for this weekend. I hope you are productive.

  10. I signed up for BBAW too yesterday, and that same question gave me trouble too, I had to really think about it!
