February Monthly Recap

Wow! Did I have a fun reading month or what? This last week as been especially great. Here's my list with bitty blurbs:

Zel by Donna Jo Napoli: Rapunzel gets locked up in a tower by her crazy mom, and ends up a bit insane herself.

Haven by Beverly Patt: Rudy helps a foster girl from nearby Haven Home and gets more than he bargains for.

Golden by Cameron Dokey: A new take on the familiar story of Rapunzel, in which this Rapunzel has no hair at all!

The Hourglass Door by Lisa Mangum: Abby falls for the new Italian exchange student, but learns he has a surprising past.

Waiting for Columbus by Thomas Trofimuk: A man thinks he is Christopher Columbus and has story after story to prove it.

The Forgotten Legion by Ben Kane: The stories of several slaves converge as they become part of ancient Roman history.

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick: Nora gets paired up in biology with Patch, a bad boy type she thinks she can deal with, but can she really?

Everything Is Fine by Ann Dee Ellis: Mazy tries to deal with her depressed mom and her absent dad and thinks that in so doing, everything is fine.

My Big Nose and Other Natural Disasters by Sydney Salter: Jory, who has a fetish about her nose, has big plans of passion for the summer, but of course, her plans don't turn out quite the way she thought they would.

The Outlaws of Sherwood by Robin McKinley: Robin forms his band of merry men and has a year and a half of exciting adventures in Sherwood.

Just when I thought I was getting tired of the supernatural, other-worldly leading guys, I ended the month with two books that have wonderful, down-to-earth, "real life" dudes. I love that. And with those last few books, I am now behind five reviews!

My favorite of the month? Such a hard hard question, but I think I'm going to have to go with My Big Nose! Funny, huh. At least I think so. Review to come this week hopefully!

What was YOUR favorite book of the month?

  1. Have you read other books by Robin McKinley? I love her Beauty & the Beast retellings: "Beauty" and "Rose Daughter."
And I LOVED "The Smile" by Donna Jo Napoli. It's historical fiction about Mona Lisa. Her others I haven't been a fan of, but The Smile was excellent.

My favorite book this month...well, I reread Hunger Games & Catching Fire...enough said. :)

  2. Karen, I have read several Robin McKinley books, including the Beauty ones you mentioned. I've loved all her books except Dragonhaven was just weird. But this was the first Donna Jo Napli book I've read. Though I didn't like Zel a whole lot, I will have to give some of her others a try.

Are you Team Peeta or Team Gale? :)
