You've heard me drone on and on about Josh Groban, and talk up Muse, and rave about Michael Buble, and even highlight Mannheim Steamroller, but did you know that I also love, and I mean LOVE movie soundtracks? Here's a couple of my favorites:
From Batman Begins:
From Pirates of the Caribbean:
From Chocolat:
From Lord of the Rings:
And the movie that started the soundtrack fascination? STAR WARS of course! Yes, the original back when I was a mere 12 years old.
I could go and on and on and on about all my movie music loves. What are some of yours?
I used to listen to music all the time as a teen - but then I don't know what happened (maybe kids!) - but I find myself appreciating the quiet. I have decided that I need to rekindle of love of music as it played such an important role in growing up years (band - choir - musicals)
ReplyDeleteThe first two soundtracks that come to mind are Big Chill and Remember the Titans. I have also found myself listening to Phantom of the Opera lately.
it's slightly unfair as my favorite soundtracks are from broadway musicals that they have made into movies. So that would be Rent, Phantom of the Opera and Sweeney Todd.
ReplyDeleteAnything written by John Williams, Hans Zimmer, and James Horner. I also love Danny Elfman, Jerry Goldsmith, Howard Shore, and Alan Silvestri. There are a few others that I love too, but those are the main ones.
ReplyDeleteLove Pirates and Lord of the Rings! Star Wars is awesome too! :) Phantom of the Opera is amazing. I love Hairspray too! (The movie version..)
ReplyDeletei would steal my brother's The Lost Boys soundtrack when i was younger. and i probably still would if i could remember where i put it (and had a cassette player).
ReplyDeletethen there was the Jurassic Park soundtrack (the first film). my roommate in college had The Stealing Beauty cd and i loved that.
Now it is Unleashed (done by Massive Attack), Love Actually, and most John Cusack films (and I mean all the way back).
Ooooh! Star Wars! Actually, you take any John Williams soundtrack from the 80s, and I probably can sing you the melodies. I like Pirates, too. And Lord of the Rings. Fun post!
ReplyDeleteI love the soundtrack to Last of the Mohicans.
ReplyDeleteI love soundtracks, too! But I'm like Molly. I sort of stopped listening to music after I had kids. I relish the silence. But off the top of my head:
ReplyDeleteThe Power of One
Sense and Sensibility
Last of the Mohicans
Shadowlands
No Reservations
Top Gun
Out of Africa
...and like others said, pretty much anything by Hans Zimmer, John Williams, James Horner, etc.
"Pirates" music gives me such a rush!
ReplyDeleteI also love Jurassic Park, Dances with Wolves and Out of Africa.
Thanks for the comments everyone! You've given me tons of new soundtracks to listen to. YES! :)
ReplyDeleteBut I must say the thing about not listen to music after you have kids? I just don't get it! I could write a whole post on my response to that one!
I like the soundtracks to Pirates and Star Wars, too but the one I really love to listen to on a regular basis is the one for Chocolat--just makes you want to dance!
ReplyDeleteI like All That Jazz, Out of Africa and La Vie En Rose.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of soundtracks, too. I love the soundtracks from all three of the Lord of the Rings movies. I also really love the soundtracks from Titanic and Finding Neverland. I'm sure there are a ton more, but those are my favorites that immediately come to mind!
ReplyDeleteLove the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack. It is great. I do love those movies...ahh...Johnny Depp!!
ReplyDeleteActually, you have listed some great soundtracks!
For me, I rather limited in my soundtrack listening but I do love The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. I also love Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
My daughter (the 4 year old) loves to listen to Annie with me. Have you heard August Rush? The movie was fairly good but the music is was really the highlight...I like it anyway.
Oh...almost forgot... Across the Universe is a GREAT soundtrack! Fabulous remade Beatles music.
Also, I should not forget to mention Once...a fantastic movie, and music that I have recently featured in my Song of the Week posts.
Fun post!
