Battle of the Feed Readers!

It's probably no surprise that the big topic this Bloggiesta is which feed reader to choose now that Google Reader is going away. We are all up in arms about this and feeling a bit of a panic as to how best to manage our hundreds of blogs that we read each day! (You DO read hundreds a day, right?)

Anyway, I had already been using Feedly a little and liked it for the most part. Sometimes I get confused on what I've read and what's new to read. It puts things up in a strange order, unless you go and pick your layout. But it really is pretty. And it looks cool on my Kindle. I haven't tired it for my phone yet. But you do have to nab the (free) app.

I figured this would be my choice of reader, but then everyone was really talking Bloglovin' up during the chats too. And that we needed to "claim our blog!" So I've just now gone and created an account and claimed my blog! Not sure what that all means now, but I'm liking the looks of this reader too!

So I can't decide! But I think I'll just play with the both of them and hopefully settle on one or the other. Or then, again, maybe I'll just read with whatever I'm in the mood for at the moment! Who says I have to actually choose one over the other!

How about you? Have you decided yet?

(Posting this is part of the doing a Bloggiesta mini challenge over at The Picky Girl! She has may other reader options listed, so go check them out and having fun playing with them!)

  1. I have no idea what this whole Claim my blog is either... but I guess I better do it!

  3. I like Feedily and how pretty it looks too. I found it easy and very easy to make changes and even cleaned up my reader too

  5. Still trying to decide on which reader to use - I guess, in my little head I'm thinking that by the end of June Google will have heard our outcry. Yep, I'm living in denial!

6. I am torn between feedly and bloglovin also. I really like feedly and its sharing options. But bloglovin has a setting that is the same as Google next button where you go directly to the blog. I don't know which one i want most.

  7. I seriously don't get the whole need to claim your blog thing at all! I will live in denial a bit longer too I think!

  9. I am currently debating between the two, but haven't decided on one over the other yet. I kind of like your idea of signing up for both and maybe not choosing just one for now!

  10. I like some of the features of Bloglovin and some of the features on Feedly. I was just thinking this morning that I could use both! What law is there that says I can only use one LOL. :) Bloglovin is so cool that it lets you just go to the actual blog and makes it easy to comment. But feedly is so easy to organize and navigate! If only they'd sync with each other.....

  11. I'd decided on Feedly because it looks a lot like Google Reader and I DON'T like change very much :( But, this is the first I've heard of Bloglovin', so I think I'll try it out before I switch. For now, I'm just using Reader until it shuts down (which is making me super sad, BTW).

Anyway, thanks for posting on this topic. I'm glad to hear what others think!

  12. I decided to try out Feedly, but I'm going to stick with BlogLovin' - I just like it's simplicity and easy of commenting.

  13. I'm definitely using Bloglovin. It's just the easiest for me! And once they make an app for the iPad, my life will be complete! :)

I did try Feedly, but there was WAY too much clicking going on.

Hope you can make a decision!

  14. I have never got into a feed reader so this is a fresh start for me. I know I know.. everyone ask how do I keep track then but I just visit my regulars and go from there.

I would like to try the convenience of an e reader so I am off to check out the ones you suggested.

  15. Right now I'm not a fan of either. I like that blogluvin has that frame thing so I can seamlessly go through my faves. But the frame disappears and I often have to start over. And the posts are presented in a weird order that I can't figure out. Also it doesn't update my read and unread quickly enough for me.

For me, Feedly is difficult to scroll through. I know that's picky but I follow a lot of blogs and I need something that will allow me to be efficient.

  16. I'm glad you posted this... I was feeling bitter about reader going away because I didn't know what other options there were. Signed up on Blogluvin'... we'll see how it goes.

  17. Sigh... except now a bunch of my blogs are missing on Blogluvin'.... why does Reader have to go away?!

  18. I've just signed up to Bloglovin' and am now waiting while it transports my blogs across.

  19. I was going to go with Feedly, and then I saw the "Claim my blog" thing with Bloglovin' and I did that... And now I can't decide. And I cleaned out my reader during bloggiesta on Feedly and NONE OF IT STUCK!!! I'm so mad. :-(

  20. I've been trying to decide, the more I looked at these two the more I'm leaning towards Bloglovin. I'm not thrilled with either, but it seems to be working ok for now.
