The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen: A group of boys are taken and taught to impersonate the prince. Which one will "win?"
Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver: The story of Lena and her new life in the wilds.
The Running Dream by Wendelin Van Draanan: A runner gets in a car accident and loses her foot, and how she deals with her new life.
The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters: A doctor in post war England is fascinated with an old house and its occupants.
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness: A young boy is dealing with his mother's illness.
The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood: An account of one woman's experience in a society where woman all have a very specific role to fill.
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater: A group of prep school friends are trying to find a long lost king.
Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson: Marianne runs into a dashing dude while on her way to visit Edenbrooke for the summer.
I don't think there was one downer for me, and how to pick a favorite? I loved The Raven Boys, Edenbrooke and Pandemonium, with all the rest in second place I suppose.
Plans for October:
- finish Robin Hood! (for real this time)
- finish Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children
- finish Slaughterhouse Five
- hopefully finish The Worst Hard Times
- read The Bone Collector for book club
- read UnWholly
- read Feedback
- read some library books, whatever moves me
- read some Kindle books, whatever moves me!
So, I have a question for you. Are you going to review the ones without a link? Or, are they some of the books you don't read?
ReplyDeleteI will review them!
DeleteYou read quite a lot! I did a little better this month but still not that great. Sigh! I love that you've been trying to finish Robin Hood for so long. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to finish it any day now!
DeleteI LOVED The False Prince. My hubby enjoyed it too. I was disappointed with Pandemonium. I felt like the whole book was to set up a love triangle! GRRR!!
ReplyDeleteKami: Yes, it's a triangle set up, BUT I still loved the book and raced through it without pause!
DeleteI'm very relieved to see that you enjoyed EDENBROOKE. Whew!
ReplyDeleteJessica: Of course! I need to review now...
