Movie Review: World War Z

Movie: World War Z
Genre: Science Fiction Action
Starring: Brad Pitt
Rating: PG13
My Rating: One and maybe almost two thumbs up!

When I saw the trailer for this movie awhile back I thought, eh... I'll probably not go to that one! But then everyone seemed to think it was pretty good and when a couple of my kids acted interested (I have one kid who appears to be a bit into zombies!) I thought, why not.

And actually, it was quite good! Pretty much an edge of your seat movie the entire time! Sometimes it was even surprisingly realistic, and sometimes, not at all. So it went back forth for me there. I think it would have been more scary had it been more realistic. But still. It was pretty good!

So we have this plague that has taken over the world. It starts out like a rabies sort of thing with animals, but suddenly, humans are affected. And then it spreads FAST. Our main dude has some government ties (I never pay attention those details!) and they want him to help find a cure, or at least a way to stop it. So, he manages to get his family to safety (barely) and then he is off to save the world.

And the things he goes through are.. wow.. CRAZY stuff! The zombies are scary fast things (FAST zombies, yes!) and he is pretty lucky (part of the unrealistic bits) to escape over and over again. Also, he is pretty smart to finally figure out the thing in the end that may (or may not) save the world. Pretty cool.

It made it seem like something like this could really happen. Weird. Could it? What do you think?

The music was awesome because it was done by Muse of course (well at least the theme song.) And it was this song, over and over again:

And Brad Pitt wasn't bad either. :)

Bottom line: I ended up quite liking it, though maybe not ALL the way to a the two thumbs up point.

  1. Good review. It wasn't one that appealed to me either. I wonder if it was true to the book.

    1. Looks like one that definitely benefits from watching in the theater. And the music certainly helps make the movie!

  2. I haven't read the book...I'm assuming it is way different anyway from what I hear...but I might go see this one!

  3. I have no idea what the book is like! I've heard some people lately saying it's a little on the boring side and this move is a complete opposite of boring.

  4. I'm glad you liked the movie. I loved it. But, I'm a huge zombie fan, lol. One of the things that I really loved is that it's not very gory like most zombie movies are. Parajunkee did a review of movie vs. book. They're nothing alike, apparently.

  5. I'm not really into zombies, but the book has been on my TBR for a while. I think the movie will be a "wait for video" one for me though.
