What would be in your Top Ten? Make a post and share your link!
I love John Adams by David McCullough. I named my daughter Abigail because of it.
ReplyDeleteI just read one on Abigail Adams and Mary Todd Lincoln. Both fascinating women, and I learned a lot about history to boot! Great choices. I'm going to suggest that Helen Keller for book club next year. One of my many book clubs, that is...**super head smack!**
ReplyDeleteNot sure I have a top 10, because I'm not a big biography reader, but I have to add The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom and The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls.
ReplyDeleteI've posted a list here. I've got two of the same ones you have - as well as the two that Gerbera Daisy Mom mentioned.
ReplyDeleteBiographies were my favorite genres in grade school, but I haven't read any in a very long time. I have been wanting to read Between a Rock and a Hard Place though so maybe I will try that one.
ReplyDeleteOnly ten? Lol. I need to do a post and link up. Memoirs and biographies are all I read. I loved McCullough's 1776 but I still want to read John Adams. Have you read Pam Cope's book called Jentsen's Gift? One of my favorite's.
ReplyDeleteI remember reading every biography in my school library when I was in 6th grade!! How times have changed. I think I like biographies and memoirs so much because I must be noisy or something. Thanks for a list to motivate me again.
ReplyDeleteNot a big non-fiction reader, so don't think I'd be able to come up with a top ten list. I've read several biographies of Queen Elizabeth I that I enjoyed, and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Kathy Griffin's memoir. Do those count? ;)
ReplyDeleteOK -- you got me...I came up with a list -- I was surprised that I could actually come up with 10! I've read more than I thought.

Emily: Oh, so cool!
ReplyDeleteLula: The Helen Keller book is very short and easy reading. Fascinating too. I need to read more about Mary Todd Lincoln.
Gerbera: Yes! The Hiding Place! Of course! (I still need to read The Glass Castle.)
Alison: Thanks for playing and posting a list. I be off to visit shortly!
Jan: Oh, yes, do try it. It's an amazing story.
Lynne: I know! It's hard to narrow these lists down! I tried to read, but never finished, 1776. I will try again some time. And now I haven't read the Pam Cope book. I'll keep my eyes open for it.
Inside a Book: I need to keep reading more of them too. Really. I love them, but fiction just pushing them all aside!
Gerbera again: YEY! I will go look!
Fun, fun list! I haven't read any of the books on your list, though I have the Alison Weir book on my TBR pile. Here's my list: My Top Ten
ReplyDeleteOh wow I so love memoirs! I loved A Girl Named Zippy too!
ReplyDeleteYeah, 1776 is one of those books where you really have to be in the right frame of mind to read it. That's probably why I haven't picked up John Adams yet. lol. I'll get there, I'll get there :)
ReplyDeleteGreat list. I've read and enjoyed #2, 3, 4, 8 and 9. Now I'm going to have to check out the rest!
ReplyDeleteOne of my fave biographies that I read recently was Amazing Grace, about William Wilberforce (movie by the same title is based on it). Absolutely amazing. Good list!
ReplyDeleteI've been doing something similar on my blog -- I wish I had just thought to pursue this format. It would have been easier!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd yay ... another Zippy fan!! I listed it in my "memoirs that don't have drugs/sex/alcohol abuse" choices!
