Random Music Sharing

I've had some recent music obsessions that makes me in the mood to share with you today! I know you all love it when I share music. (Ha, not.) But too bad, here goes!

So I've recently discovered (and I think I mentioned this awhile back) that I appear to be a fan of Fall Out Boy. I'm baffled, shocked and surprised by this! I mean, really? Fall Out Boy? But yeah. It started with that Centuries song which would get stuck in my head and I'd be all, WHO sings that song? I totally love it!

And then when I realized who it was, I was all like, what ELSE to they sing? Hmmm.. Spotify to the rescue.

Wait, they sing that Light 'em Up song? Seriously? I LOVE that song! (Yeah, I'm no I'm late to the party on this one, but better late than never, yes?)

Only it's really called My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark. Don't you love that title? What does that even mean? The lyrics are crazy but the song is so much fun. It's totally my go-to, rock-out, dance-around-the-house, cleaning-up, blast-with-the-windows-down,  current song:

(Not a huge fan of this video though. I'd much rather see them pounding on the drums, not burning them up! Though I imagine most bands feel this way many times during their careers!)

Speaking of rock out songs, did you know Imagine Dragons has a new album out? Yeah, go listen to it on Spotify! And of course I zeroed in on the most crazy un-Imagine Dragons sounding song of the list to fall in love with. It's called Friction and it too is a song that needs to be blasted:

Shifting gears to mellow acoustic now. We saw the musical, Once, this past week. Lovely music in that show. Lovely. It made the song Falling Slowly famous. But I already loved that song. And now I love another song from that show. It's called, If You Want Me. It's what people would say is hauntingly beautiful. Have you heard it before?

Oh, and then there's Josh of course. He is in the midst of promoting and marketing up his new album which comes out in a few weeks. Sweet! And they've released a couple of songs as teasers. I love his version of Bring Him Home from Les Miserables. He nailed it!

Speaking of music, did you know Daphne from The Shadow Prince can hear people's emotions, like an aura only in musical notes? Isn't that awesome? (Yeah, how'd you like that segue?!)

Here's another teaser for that awesome book as promised:

So, did you listen to any of this music I shared? Did you like any of it? Will you play it on repeat a few times today? I hope so!

  1. I've always liked Fall Out Boy since my daughter started listening to them years ago; their stuff is just fun. Of course, I'm always sure that it was their death knell for a while, once moms started liking them!

  2. I love Fall Out Boy! Good song picks. I'd never heard of Once, but I do have to agree...that's a beautiful song. It has a little bit of a Latin feel to it. I'm curious about the musical now. I'll have to look into it more. I searched it on Wikipedia and it sounds like a pretty neat approach. I like the idea of bridging the actors and the orchestra.

  4. Yeah! I love sharing. Of course, sharing music with a music teacher is dangerous. Here are a few from me. One of my 6th grade girls just shared this one with me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QO3ppTYwRYs (This is not her) Check out this post in my blog http://366andmore.blogspot.com/2015/04/so-what-do-you-actually-do-district.html 3 paragraphs above the 1st picture of the chorus is a piece we performed that has been stuck in my head all week.

    1. Jen: That first song reminds of something but I'm not sure what... the Hanging Tree in Hunger Games maybe? And the second song... FRENCH! We're all about French around here these days...

    2. Maybe this song? It reminded me a bit of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNsQewlFtEs Did you read the story about the French piece? It's in the paragraph with the song.

  6. I have loved Fall Out Boy for probably a decade and while I don't love everything they do any more (there new stuff isn't quite as much my cup of tea; I'm a 90s girl at heart), I do still love them. Even without following when they release new albums, I always recognize them when they're on the radio :) I'm excited you're a fan too!

  7. I love it when you review music! Somehow, I missed the memo on the new Imagine Dragons album, so I had to click right on over to Spotify to give it a listen. It's different -- some of the tracks have kind of a Erasure/Depeche Mode vibe that I really like. I think my faves are Shots, Trouble and I Bet My Life. And Josh Groban + Les Mis = can't go wrong there!

  8. I thought Josh was playing the piano there for a minute. He has an amazing voice! Although I'm not digging the scruff.
