Top Ten Tuesday: Best Sequels
So in doing this list today, I have thought of second books only... actual sequels, even if they are part of a bigger series. Know what I mean?
Anyway, often the second book disappoints especially when the first book is so so good. These books, for me, did NOT disappoint.
Ten of My Favorite Sequels
1.Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi
2. The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss
3. The Queen of Atolia by Megan Whalen Turner
4. Froi of the Exiles by Melina Marchetta
5. Antsy Does Time by Neal Shusterman
6. Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingells Wilder
7. Eldest by Christopher Paolini
8. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J. K. Rowling
9. Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
10. The Exiled Queen by Cinda Williams Chima
What books are your favorite sequels? Be sure to head on over to the Broke and the Bookish and link up your list!

totally agree about 1,9 about being really good sequels :)
ReplyDeleteI like seeing everyone's favorite HP book on the lists today. Mine is #3, but it didn't make the top ten. I liked Eldest, but I think I liked Brisingr better.
ReplyDeleteThe Little House books! That brings me back to my childhood!
ReplyDeleteInteresting you included HP. I wasn't a huge fan of book #2. I loved AZKABAN though. I also love that you included LOLA. I told another blogger today that I like ANNA and all but Cricket is what makes LOLA so fabulous. I love that boy. :)
ReplyDeleteI can't remember if I just forgot about Through the Ever Night when I picked my list or if there was a reason I left it off, but I think I forgot about it!

Great list!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I'm glad to see HP on there and Lola. I didn't realize Little House on the Prairie was the second in the series. I need to read those still, obviously.
ReplyDeleteI've hardly ever read a series, to be honest. I always think I will but then I get distracted. You've found a lot of good ones!
ReplyDeleteI agree, the second in the series is often weak.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like Eldest very much. Eragon seemed to be going through a moody and horny phase in his life in that book. But I agree with Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. That one was super-good. Thanks for sharing your top 10 sequels!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the Mortal Instruments series, though by book 5, I was hoping for a resolution of the conflict. But it was fun to see all the characters grow through the sequels.
