Airing Grievances

As I understand it, there's a special day set aside for the airing of grievances. I learned this over at Trisha's (Hey Lady!) blog the other day. I think I missed the real special day but, as she said, it's a perfect time, anytime during the holidays because no one is reading blogs anyway, right? Which means you can say whatever you want! And it sounded like such a healthy, cleansing thing to do, I just had to give it a try!

So here, in no particular order, is a list of things that BUG me:

  • Getting a new laptop for Christmas but having no time to play with it!
  • Ditto for the pile of books.
  • Going to yet another funeral for a cousin, 38 years old, who went to sleep one night (the weekend before Christmas) and just didn't wake up.
  • Having to install updates on the brand new laptop, only the third time I've even turned it on! What's up with that!?
  • The fact (and you KNOW it's a fact) that all the food that's yummy is bad for you and all the food that's yucky is good for you. I don't get it. Something is wrong with this picture.
  • Getting old.
  • Headaches, stomachaches, foot aches, teeth aches, back aches, neck aches, knee aches, etc.
  • Being too fat for my snow pants, so if I plan on going tubing on Saturday, I have to go buy new ones!
  • Actually, being too fat for ALL my pants is really starting to get on my nerves.
  • Spam comments on my blog.
  • No comments on my blog!
  • The sound of World of Warcraft...oh, that really really bugs me! :)
  • When the cat jumps up on the counter and licks the butter.
  • Clothes full of static! UGH, it's awful!
  • Kids that sit behind you in a movie, then kick your chair the whole time.
  • Being late
  • Losing things.
  • Getting sick.
  • The YouTube police (you know, the ones that silence your movies if you use a certain song. Don't they know it's free advertising? I don't get it.)
Whew. It appears I could go on and on... and on. But what a great feeling to get it all out! So tell me, what bugs YOU?

  1. Your cat eats butter, too? My cat is out of control with the butter. I'm pretty careful, but sometimes I forget and leave it out.

Oh, and before I got pregnant I was getting too fat for all my pants too. Nothing like having to either immediately diet or go out and buy bigger pants. :)

  2. I totally get the food one. *insert sigh of frustration here*
And aches. And chair kickers. And losing things. Oh my WORD losing things.
Hmmm. I wonder what else I would add. Re-entry into non-holiday vacation real life. Monday it's back to work and getting up WAAAAY too early and as much as I love the people my ridiculously stupid library space that is a hallway where no one even hardly tries to even be quiet.

  3. I'm bugged because I got a new ipad for Christmas but I can't use it until I update my MAC with new software (that cost $30) and It's coming by mail! I'm dying to use it :)

  4. The weather's bugging me. I saw the sun today for the first time in a week. And I'm wearing a cardigan. In the subtropics. In summer.

Could be worse, though. At least we're not flooded out like a lot of the state. Or snowed under like the northern hemisphere.

  5. wow, lots of this stuff would bug me too. Right now, getting sick is bugging me, first me, then baby, then the rest of the family and now probably me again. That bugs me.

  6. It's Festivus for the rest-of-us, from Seinfeld. Still love that show. And my 13 year old has been watching the old episodes. The funniest part is when they say a line my husband and I have used for years, and he looks at us with realization. Ha!

    Sorry about your cousin.
Have you read the Nora Ephron book - I Feel Bad About My Neck? All about aging.

Hope the laptop gets less frustrating. And soon enough, everyone will be back at school - oh, wait, that's one of my bugs, cause I'll have to be back too!

  7. Sorry to tell you but the updating thing on your laptop...Never going to stop. Ever! It's so annoying. As for the kids kicking your chair, I always sit on the back row so that doesn't happen. Plus it give me a great view to watch all the people in the theater when I get bored of the movie. As for things that are bugging me. Allergies!!! Argh! most people don't have them this time of year. Couldn't I be unique in some other way? And the other thing that ticks me off is when you think you're reading the last book in a series and you're not!!!

"When the cat jumps up on the counter and licks the butter."

  9. I hear you on a number of those. I'm just now getting to play with the gadget that I got for Christmas. I want to go sledding and my snow pants don't fit. I am bugged by the fact that I have to work when it seems like everyone else isn't.

  10. The cat licks the butter- ugh. I don't know how many times I've turned around and had to throw food away because the cat jumped up and ate some. And it's not like he doesn't get well-fed!

  11. Trish: One of the fun little things I got for Christmas was a covered butter dish, so maybe we'll get the cat-licking-butter under control. The cat totally knows she shouldn't be jumping on the counter, but seems to be suddenly brave about that whole thing lately.

Angie: Ah, sleeping in has been nice, hasn't it! I can't wait to do it again tomorrow!

Knowles Family: I was going to say as on of my things.... being bugged that new things can't or won't work! This would have totally qualified. But have fun with that iPad, you'll have to tell me how it goes!

Amat Libris: That's one thing that normally doesn't bug me too bad, the weather. Unless it's TOO hot. Then I get ornery.

Joanna: Ugh, that does NOT sound fun. I hope you are all getting better now!

Raidergirl: You know, and I never even watched Seinfeld!

Yes, I've heard of that neck book. I really need to find it I guess!

Techno: Sorry to hear about the allergies. What a pain. Oh, and you could add reading what you think is the FIRST book in a series and find out it's not! :)

Jen: Yes, you'd think we starved the cat!

Teresa: Ahh the snow pants. I guess I have to go buy some tomorrow. Yuck.

    Jeane: Right! Exactly!

    Aloha: Yes yes!! :)

  12. Ooh, note to self: Connect laptop to internet and check for updates. I haven't done it for a few weeks so who knows how many it'll need by now?

  13. Loved this post! You need to air your grievances more often. LOL Many of your grievances are mine too.

  14. I vented a bit more on Trish's blog and am feeling a bit better about it at the moment, so I will just sum it up in two words here . . . identity theft! ARGH!

And, I promise to be better at commenting on your blog! I really do read it, but am horrible at commenting at times! :)

  15. Amat: I don't know why, but updates scare me a little.

Ibeeeg: LOL, I better not vent too often, it would start looking a little too negative around here!

Tif: So sorry to hear about your identity theft experience. I hope you are recovering okay. Scary stuff. Tell us what you've learned that we should NOT do!
