The Great American Reads: FINAL RESULTS

Well, I had plans to watch all the fun episodes of this series, but I kept forgetting and Tuesday is bad day for TV watching for me. And then I'd forget to watch it later online, though I think it's possible. And hopefully I still will because I really want to know the discussion on all these books.

BUT, in the meantime, the winner has been announced! You can click here to see them... but I've also copied and pasted: (except the numbers didn't come over, but this is the order!)

So.. what do you think? I think it's a pretty good representation of America's favorites, yes? I'm happy with it! I'm glad The Book Thief ended up quite high up (number 14 I think). Along with many of my other favorites! Do you plan to go and read some that you've missed over the years? I would like to. We'll see though, how THAT goes!

  1. I am still behind on the episodes but I am totally bummed that all my votes for Frankenstein only got it to #43. I did correctly guess the winner though, and I think it is well deserved, I am also very glad Harry Potter didn't win. I do clearly need to start the Outlander series though and see how it managed #2. I really enjoyed this show and how it seems to have brought talking about books and reading more into the spotlight, people I didn't even know were readers have started talking about books with me and it is a joy to find more readers around me.

  2. Dang! Like Ang, I’m sad Frankenstein didn’t come in higher. I guess I should have voted more. I don’t know about the winner. It’s a good book but number one??...

    1. It appears! They said somewhere that it was the lead from the start and never lost hold of it's place. So.... :)

  3. TKAM is my favorite book of all time, so I totally agree with it being #1. Many of the others on the list are also favorites of mine (HP, LITTLE WOMEN, THE HELP, JANE EYRE, etc.) so I'm pleased with how the voting turned out.

  4. I was voting for LOTR, so I'm happy it was 5th. I like that To Kill a Mockingbird won! That is really cool.
