Today we're talking about books that make you cry. For me, that's a lot of them, but the problem is, I can't remember which ones! Except for the obvious ones! So anyway, here's what I came up with:
1. Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls
2. Charlotte's Web by E.B. White
3. A Single Shard by Linda Sue Park
4. The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
5. The Good Earth by Pearl Buck
6. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
7. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
8. The Scorpio Races by Maggie Steifvater
9, If I Stay by Gayle Forman
10. The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell
Yep, I predict these books will break your heart! Read them!
What books broke your heart that should be on my list? Link up at The Broke and the Bookish.
TFIOS made my list too. Ooh I remember some of those from school days, so glad you put those on the list to remind us of them.
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I have read several of these and will look for the ones I have not read yet.
ReplyDeleteIf I Stay made my list too! Scorpio Races didn't bring me to tears but I was definitely close more than once. Love that book!
ReplyDeleteCharlotte's Web! I haven't thought about that book in a long time, but it's definitely a crier.
ReplyDeleteI like that you included oldies but goodies on your list. I knew The Book Thief would be there also! Woo!
ReplyDeleteI cried so much while reading If I Stay - my face was puffy until the next day!
ReplyDeleteOh hey, I have If I Stay and The Sparrow - I'll know just what to pick up when I'm ready for a good cry!
ReplyDeleteOMG, someone else who has read and loved The Sparrow - I never meet anyone who has read that book. It was on my list this week, too! I love that you included older books, like Charlotte's Web. Great list!
ReplyDeleteThere were many that I forgot. They of course came to me AFTER the fact. haha
ReplyDeleteI didn't even think of kids books, Where the Red Fern Grows and Bridge to Teribithia always get me. I read Moon over Manifest this year and it got me too. Love kids books.
ReplyDeleteTwo more recent reads for book clubs had me in tears ... The Wednesday Sisters and Tell the Wolves I'm Home. Needless to say, I am hoping for a happier read for book club this time!
ReplyDeleteMy teacher read us Where the Red Fern Grows in 5th grade, but I couldn't wait for her to read a chapter or two per day so I begged my mom to let me get it from the library so I could finish it . . . thank goodness because otherwise I would have BAWLED in my classroom!!!
