Random Sunday Thoughts

I haven't randomized for a while and since I'm SO not in the mood for the journal-y post I normally do on Sundays, I've decided to ramble. Are you ready?

** I'm loving doing Photoaday... wonder if there will be more prompts for July.. .and should I do it? Even though my July will be pretty much... ummm.... camping?

** Book club was outside this week! (As in...sitting in my back yard.) Good thing it wasn't just one day later because there was this huge fire, and it was terrible smoky outside. We would have had issues breathing!

** I finished fixing up my bedroom corner. See...

BEFORE
AFTER

** Now I want to keep going... and fix up the other parts of the bedroom. I mentioned new carpet today and maybe, just maybe, it will happen even! The thought of being able to show you before and after pictures motivates me. Weird? But true. So here's hoping you'll all give me, like, massive positive feedback here!!! :)

** I've decided to go see Batman (The Dark Knight Rises) as soon as all the camping is over in July.. at the IMAX.... in 3D. It will give me something to look forward to! Will Spiderman be released by then too? Maybe I'll see it the same day....

** So, I finished season four of Merlin.... LOVED it. Cried. Tristan and Isolde made their way into those last episodes... very interesting interpretations... but I cried. I also finished season one of Buffy. I didn't cry, but I felt the emotion, finally! Looking forward to starting season two today!

** I read all afternoon Friday and started and finished Monument 14 by Emmy Laybourne. Quite the crazy story... reminds me of several other books though... a bit Life as We Knew It, a bit Lord of the Flies, a bit Where the Heart Leads (that's the one where the girl lives in Walmart, right?) and even a bit The Mist by Stephen King! Whew. Good one though, I liked it.

** My sister says she will start blogging again, but I've yet to see a post....

** Remember that time I drove across the country? Last year? Yeah, it was a year ago exactly and I wish I was doing it again, only this time I'd send you all postcards.

** Tainted Love is playing on my 80s Pandora station right now... ah the memories! We had quite the 80s discussion at book club the other day. I had no idea some people don't like the 80s! What's UP with that? They were wonderful times!

** My garden looks sickly, just in case you wondered...

** Do you realize we haven't had rain here for weeks and weeks? I'm starting to crave some rain. Usually in the summer we get those cool afternoon thunder deals going on... and so far this year... NOT A ONE!

** I can't seem to figure out how to fit exercising back into my life. I was faithful for years, and now... nothing. This is bad.

** I'm thinking that that's all I'm thinking... mostly.

Have a lovely Sunday!

  2. Wow! You are really good at decorating. That corner looks so cozy. I love the picture group. I usually don't like pics like that on the wall since it looks like too much, but these look great. I think that it is because you went with bigger pieces. Well done!

    1. Steph: I think a lamp and plant anywhere can do the trick too! This pictures are ones we've taken that I just had blown up. I love them.

    1. Kami... no in Orem, but the whole valley filled with the smoke that one night. I will nag my sister. She has TIME this summer, no excuses!

  4. We have been hearing about the fires. I hope rain comes soon! Here it is basically supposed to rain all week... The corner looks awesome! I hope you do participate in the July photo a day. I am hoping the prompts will be up soon! And, yes, I wish I had asked you for postcards when you went away last year. I worry too much about being a pest, I think. Talk to you later today!

  5. Oh my gosh! Wasn't the smoke horrible on Friday?! Yuck!

I really do love those before and after pictures. And I'm not just saying that cause you wanted. I love the pictures best. Pictures just add that special homey feel.

Tristan is old. What's up with that? I'm guessing there is no romance then?

I'm wishing for a nice long rain storm too!

    1. Jenny: It was horrible. Yes, he's old, but there was still a romance.

  8. I love your bedroom corner! I'm constantly renovating places in the house ... cheaply, of course, since I'd rather spend money on books. :) It's amazing how the littlest things, like hanging pictures, can make a world of a difference.

And yay for book club being outside, but boo to the smokiness. My book club is held in the library basement. I wish it were somewhere with nicer lighting and maybe some tea or coffee.

Too bad about your garden! I just upgraded my garden this weekend and it looks great ... now I just need the flowers to grow. That's the only thing that doesn't want to cooperate!

    Have a good week!

    1. Reading: Yes, this was very cheap... IKEA furniture. I need to hang more pictures around the house because I agree. I will let you know if my garden makes us anything!

  9. They do have July prompts for Photo-a-Day. Fatmumslim comes up with them each month. :)

I'm going to see Batman too, but not at the IMAX or in 3D. But, I'm still excited. I'm not sure about Spider-man, though.

I'm sad I missed book club and not just because it was outside, lol. But, that would've been nice.

  11. Hope that fire has been contained - there are so many out of control fires this year. All that while Duluth is flooding.

Your bedroom corner looks great. I think it's a good idea to work on small areas at a time. It takes so much time and money to do a whole room at once. This way you can really feel like you're making progress.

  12. I love your bedroom corner! that is gorgeous.

Exercise.....I was doing so well on my bike in the winter, and now with my knees its' hit or miss if I can walk a mile 4 days out of 5. Very sad! I need to do more, too. I hope you find your way to it, and the same for me too :-)

  13. You can have our rain :P We've had far too much of it this spring and summer..

Yay for finishing season 1 of Buffy. For me, the last two episodes of season 1 convinced me I needed to watch season 2. And then season 2 just made me feel so much that I finished watching it in 4 days.

    1. Iris: Oh wow, I would LOVE your rain! :) I am liking season 2 better, but wow, watching four episodes in a row the other day maybe so tired. Next time I think I will watch on the TV and not the computer, maybe that would save my eyeballs.
