Top Ten Favorite Books So Far This Year
(and that were published this year, mostly, but not necessarily with links to my reviews)
1. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green: a sad tale of two kids with cancer
2. Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins: a book that's created one of the most endearing romantic heroes in recent YA stuff
3. Partials by Dan Wells: a fun take on the dystopian craze
4. Where Things Come Back by John Corey Whaley: winner of the Printz
5. The Hollow City by Dan Wells (coming out next month... July): this one messes with your head big time (review to come soon!)
6. Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta: awesome fantasy series
7. Froi of the Exiles by Melina Marchetta: sequel to the above
8. The House at Tyneford by Natasha Solomons: an engaging WWII historical fiction
9. The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss: this awesome epic fantasy series continues
10. Cinder by Marissa Meyer: one of the most creative and unique fairy tale re-tellings I've read.
It's been a fun reading year so far, even if I'm not reading as much as I had planned.
Do you have any of the same books on your favorite-so-far list?
Welcome to Armchair BEA! The Fault in our stars is my favorite book of this year too. It is truly amazing!

DeleteI loved Cinder and Partials - both favourites of mine this year, too! I also loved the Wise Man's Fear, but I read that last year so it doesn't really count!
ReplyDeleteGreat list - happy Tuesday!
My TTT this week
Tara: Yeah, it took me forever to get to it!
DeleteGreat job putting the two together! I still haven't read Cinder. I don't think I'll be done by next Tuesday either, lol. But, hey, at least I plan to read it.
ReplyDeleteJenni: I'm not even trying to read those books for next Tuesday.. oh, well.
DeleteI loved Cinder! Pretty much all of the rest of these I need to pull off my TBR list and actually READ. Seriously, I could read 24hrs a day 7 days a week and STILL take years to finish off everything on my list! lol
ReplyDeleteHere's my list!
Anne: No kidding!
DeleteI really need to get to Where Things Come Back and The House At Tyneford. I'm feeling so overwhelmed with reading lately. I hate that!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah! We get to post are Hollow City reviews soon!
Jenny: Did you write yours already? I have yet to do that!
DeletePartials is on my wish list because of Jenny and I love, loved Cinder. Dying to read The House at Tyneford, too. Great list!
ReplyDeleteBookfool: What's great about those books you mention? They are all so different!
DeleteWell . . . I love dystopian novels and Cinder was both a great retelling *and* well-written. The House at Tyneford -- WWII sucker. I really do love a wide variety.
DeleteGreat list! Most of the ones you chose are either on my bookshelf (have read and loved), on my nightstand (waiting to be devoured), or on my TBR shelf (Why aren't there more hours in the day?).
ReplyDeleteI loved The Fault in Our Stars, which seems to be a favorite among many blogs I've visited today. I also love Lola. Cricket swoonage!
I hope you have a great BEA-filled week!

ReplyDeleteI've been to a BUNCH of blogs today - The Fault on Our Stars and Cinder and trending big time ;)
ReplyDeleteI really want to read The Fault in Our Stars. I've heard nothing but good things!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with The Fault in Our Stars and Lola!!! I loved both of those too!! I really need to read Where Things Come Back because I keep hearing how fabulous it is!!
ReplyDeleteCinder is a great book! I bought Fault in Our Stars the second it was out but still haven't read it yet. :-/ Great list.
ReplyDeleteCinder is on my fav list too! I've got The Fault In Our Stars on my stacks.
ReplyDeleteGreat list. Several I've read, and the others are on my list! Thanks for visiting.
ReplyDeleteMelina Marchetta is one of my favourite authors ever, but I have to say I wasn't the hugest fan of Froi. Finnikin I did like, but I couldn't get past the character of Quintana in Froi. Melina's way with words is fantastic, though.
ReplyDeletenope, havent read a single one of the books on your list. But I have a few on my tbr so maybe this year, I'll actually get to one of them.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great sounding list. Except for one, I need to read them all. Hmmm...I think I shall create a Suey Recommended list for me to refer back to when I need a book for reading. :). I know it sounds like I am joking, and I sort of am, but I am also sort of serious. I hope you are having a great week with lots fun and with little daily trudge work.
ReplyDeleteGreat list! So many good books so far this year. Would love for you to stop by my Top Ten Childhood Faves :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book this year so far is Wonder by R.J Palacio
