The Sunday Salon: Bloggiesta Weekend

These thoughts written on Saturday evening the 22nd:

Outside my window: It's blustery and trying its very hardest to snow.

I am listening to: Adam Lambert's Acoustic Live... love love love. Especially Soaked.

I am thinking: that Bloggiesta is very fun, but it makes my head hurt.

I am grateful for: my blog. Is that weird? I remember back when I started it I was scared to death. And now I can't imagine my life without this place to purge my thoughts and bookish fanatics and all sorts of other strangeness.

I am reading: I started two new books last night! Hush by Kate White for an upcoming TLC tour and Major Pettigrew's Last Stand by Helen Simonson for the "other" book club coming up this week. Very different books from each other, but I think I'm going to really enjoy them both.

I am photographing: more gigs. Today was a school event in which Moder played in yet another band. I took pictures and photos galore. They sounded great by the way!

I am listing: all sorts of goals and accomplishments as part of my Bloggiesta adventures.

I am creating: a mess of my blog! Well, hopefully there are some good changes, but I'm not sure.

On my iPod: hmmm.... what have I been listening too? I think I listened to a random playlist this week which included Adam Lambert, Kris Allen, Yaz, Hans Zimmer, Dr. Mabuse, Depeche Mode, Muse, Josh Groban, and many others....

To live my faith: I will embrace this new change coming my way tomorrow, I hope. (I find out what my new church job will be! I've been teaching the 11 year olds, but now we'll see what's next.)

I am hoping and praying: that Toto's little friend that got deathly sick this past week and ended up in the hospital will get better soon.

Around the house: things are sort of clean actually. That's because it was book club this week and I cleaned up for the event!

From the kitchen: the girls made Rice Krispie Scotcheroos to take to the bake sale today at the school. We got Cafe Rio this afternoon, but we did bring it home and eat in the kitchen! :)

One of my favorite things: Pork Barbacoa Salad from Cafe Rio!

The children this week: should all be doing normal routine things. I look forward to a fairly calm week.

Plans for the week: There's the other book club, an ear doctor appointment (yes my ears are a little weird sometimes,) an event for daughter Toto, a party with the other library on Saturday (they invited the employees of my library to go party with them) and I can't remember what else!

On this date: I answered a BTT question about books I love that no one seems to have heard of, I reviewed the book The Moon Below by Barbara Bickmore, and I posted a random Sunday Salon post.

Thanks to Ibeeeg of Polishing Mud Balls for the inspiration for this post's layout.

  1. Isn't it awesome that we have been listening to some of the same artists too!? Adam Lambert, Kris Alen, Hans Zimmer, Muse & Josh Groban are all I've been listening to for the whole week!

  2. I haven't heard Adam Lambert's Acoustic Live--must remedy that. I do love his voice.

I am grateful for your blog too. I enjoy stopping in and visiting--I'm not always good about commenting these days, but I always enjoy your posts.

I keep hearing such great things about Major Pettigrew's Last Stand. I should probably add that to my wish list.

I hope you have a great week! It'll be a busy one for me and I admit I'm already looking forward to next weekend. How horrible is that? LOL

  3. Okay - the last time I listened to Adam Lambert was during his stint on American Idol. So . . . I decided to click on your link and give a listen to Soaked. I'm not a "fan" (obviously since I haven't heard any of his music), but I have to admit, that song gave me chills. Literally! That doesn't mean that I will seek him out, but wow. His voice is incredible!!! I'm blown away.

  4. I loved this post!!

I am a HUGE fan of Cafe Rio and the pork barbacoa salad. It's frustrating reading this on a Sunday!! Stop making me hungry!!

We cleaned at the church yesterday and it was all I could do to come home and sweep my floor. Head-colds do that to me. I'm glad that somebody's house is clean. Let's just pretend that I live at your house, shall we?!

I also have book group this week. We read Fat Cat by Robin Brande (my step-sis) and discussion will be fun. We all loved it. She was gracious enough to answer some questions that we had submitted and even sent us some recipes so I am anxious to share them. I have Major Pettigrew's Last Stand in my TBR pile. Let us know how you like it.

I'm curious about your Sunday calling. I am without one after being released as RS pres in June. Now we attend the Singles Ward and that's really a change!! NO calling, and nothing to do. It's good and bad but probably perfectly timed. Good Luck!

  7. Shy: That IS awesome! We should talk music more often!

Literary Feline: Thank you for all the kind words. You do know that I count you as one of my first ever book bloggin' buddies... right?

And next weekend, I'll be in your shoes, and will be just wishing for the NEXT week to just get over! (Book fair.)

Joy: Glad you enjoyed Soaked. It is pretty chill inducing I agree!

Inside: Well, I wouldn't say my house is clean, no, we can't go THAT far! :) Actually, it's a mess again now after just one day of hanging out.

Not sure how the church calling will work out since I have a date conflict with it that is pretty major! So it's in limbo at the moment... yuck.

    Sheila: It's very fun!

Page: Yes, exhausted sounds about right. :)

  8. You said, "I can't imagine my life without this place to purge my thoughts and bookish fanatics and all sorts of other strangeness." and I feel the same way.

I think it is cool that you are photographing the gigs...very cool. Are you having fun with it, or do you become a bit shy when you want to get a different angle? I have a hard time just going for it when I am shooting a public event of some sort. I become very self-concious and my photos show that in their aweful composition. I really need to work on that.

Your blog is not a mess, so you know.

You are far more healthy than I with your iPod...I told you, I have an illness, and on the way home from work tonight...as hard as I tried...I could not shake it .. Well , truth be told, i did not really try all that hard to listen to something different which really points to the fact of how ill I truly am. :)

I am so glad you are doing this post. I love reading it all, and it is great fun to see your thoughts!
