Authors Pick Five: James Dashner

James Dashner, author of the Jimmy Fincher series, the 13th Reality series, and The Maze Runner, picks these five books as those most important or influential to him:

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card

The Stand by Stephen King

Strangers by Dean Koontz

The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by Stephen R. Donaldson

The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis

For more on James Dashner, be sure to check it his fun blog, The Dashner Dude, where he keeps readers very up to date on what's happening in his life. His books also have some really amazing websites devoted just for them. Learn more about The 13th Reality here, and his book that is coming out this very day, The Maze Runner, here. His first series, published locally, is The Jimmy Fincher Saga, and he tells the interesting story on how that came about on his blog here.

  1. Love Narnia and Ender's Game. I have recommended Ender to so many kids and am always pleased to hear most love it.

  2. By the way, I see you've recently read The Forest of Hands and Teeth. Wasn't it wonderful?

  4. I've never gotten into Orson Scott Card's work. I like the new blog banner, Suey! Unfortunately, I won't be commenting on the blog much except at home because I can't use embedded comment boxes at work.

If I'm tardy commenting on posts, forgive me.

  5. Serena: I've just been trying this embeded thing out to see what I think. I could take it or leave it. Do you think there's lots of other people that have this same problem? I would never have known. So maybe I'll go ahead and switch back.
