Booking Through Thursday: Playing Editor

Booking Through Thursday

How about a chance to play editor-in-chief? Fill in the blanks:

Love in the Time of Cholera would have been a much better book if there was a little more.... a lot more.... dialogue.

Wives and Daughters would have been a much better book if the author wouldn't have died before she finished it!

Well, I was going to think of more, but I guess my mind just went blank! So I'll leave it at that for now.

  1. An author who died before finishing a book? That's pretty sad. Is the partially-finished book published?

  2. I'm trying to be generous and think that anything could have made a good book out of 'Love in the Time of Cholera' but to be fair I don't enjoy Magic Realism.

  3. Jeane... yes the book is published, and a very very good book it is too! One of my favorites. She managed to wrap everything up, but it does need one last chapter to give it that finished feeling... and that chapter does not exist. We, the readers, just have to imagine it.

Table Talk: I agree. I didn't really like much about that particular book at all, BUT, I would have liked it a little better had there been some talking going on!

  6. I loved Love in the Time of Cholera, but to be fair, it's been a few years since I read it.

  7. That is hilarious...that's how I feel about Isaac's storm right now...the Author needed a lesson in how to make things interesting.
