I admit to much preferring the movie version (maybe because I watched it first?). I think the book definitely has more going on in Thornton's head, and the ending is somewhat different with the whole kissing train scene. But I like the movie- actually just lent it to my friend to borrow and she is texting me all the time now about how much she loves Richard Armitage!
