I think they totally know what they are talking about! But yes, further on I think it would be pretty obvious it's YA. But I guess I need to make it feel that way very fast. I've redone the pages. You want to read them. For really? MG? Maybe they don't know what they're talking about or maybe it just needs to get further into the story. Hmmm. And hoping I'm not over doing it trying to get a YA voice going on! I will be on the look out for MG ideas for sure. At least I think that book is MG. :) Sueyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02926501219758538615noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5566869117228903343.post-6747714852890058102015-04-11T12:25:49.322-06:002015-04-11T12:25:49.322-06:00Ang: The conference was a little unorganized, and ...Ang: The conference was a little unorganized, and yet, for what they had going, it went of amazingly smoothly. Interesting, your idea on the shift of YA and MG. I think it's probably true for the most part.Sueyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02926501219758538615noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5566869117228903343.post-71640286630866291852015-04-10T21:20:53.974-06:002015-04-10T21:20:53.974-06:00I wonder now if it was just in those first pages? ...I wonder now if it was just in those first pages? Because your ms is definitely a YA novel! But what a great experience overall - and maybe you should make your next book a middle grade book!Belle Wonghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12112894169429729531noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5566869117228903343.post-24613906712626369002015-04-10T15:21:47.622-06:002015-04-10T15:21:47.622-06:00I'm sorry the experience was so frustrating. Maybe you need to read MG and see what the difference is? I don't know.Jenni Elysehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08403700912436098391noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5566869117228903343.post-45047666975828282492015-04-10T13:27:44.318-06:002015-04-10T13:27:44.318-06:00Oh gosh! Heck I barely let you read my writing let alone let a published author read it, and then to read it out loud oh HECK No! You are definitely brave but it sounded like a great way for unbiased feedback. It sounds like the conference was a little unorganized too. I feel like MG and YA have moved so far away from what they were originally when I was those ages, the YA seems way more mature now and MG has almost started moving up into YA territory. I don't know if that is right but that's what I feel like is happening.Angelahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11236569596711092011noreply@blogger.com
